Joe David Yates of Mason County is involved in a variety of family ranching and agribusiness interests. These include Bay City Feed in Bay City, Texas; cow-calf operations in the Texas Hill Country, Hudspeth County, Texas, and Otero County, N.M.; and a yearling ranch in Colfax and Union counties in New Mexico. Mr. Yates studied animal science at Angelo State University, where he was a member of the 1980 national champion wool judging team. Early in his career he was the manager of Southwestern Wool & Mohair and general manager of Ozona Wool & Mohair. Mr. Yates is a licensed Broker in Texas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma and has been practicing real estate for over 26 years. He is a former director of the Llano County Farm Bureau and a former Llano city councilman. He also served on the boards of the Texas Sheep and Goat Raisers Association and the Ruidoso Jockey Club and was appointed to the American Quarter Horse Association's national racing committee.
