After being named a finalist for the past two years, CFC Chief Digital Officer Joseph Paulraj won the prestigious ORBIE Award at its April awards dinner.
The ORBIE is one of the highest honors recognizing exceptional leadership, innovation and impact among chief information officers and senior technology executives.

Presented annually by the Inspire Leadership Network, the ORBIE Awards celebrate CIOs who drive transformational business results, foster strong cultures and use technology to elevate customer and employee experiences. Paulraj’s selection reflects both the measurable outcomes of our digital transformation and the collaborative, people-first leadership style that has defined his career.
In addition to his responsibilities at Capital Farm Credit, Paulraj plays an influential role across the broader Farm Credit System. He collaborates with CIOs from more than 55 Farm Credit institutions nationwide and serves on the steering committees for the Farm Credit AI Cohort, SystemX and IT Symposium, helping guide industry-wide conversations on ethical AI adoption, innovation, and shared governance.
His leadership philosophy emphasizes collaboration at scale—breaking down organizational silos, building ecosystems of innovation, and aligning people and technology around a common purpose.
“Technology leadership is not about predicting the future, but about intentionally shaping it,” Paulraj has said, a principle he brings to every initiative and partnership.
In his acceptance speech, Paulraj expressed gratitude for his colleagues, mentors and family, and dedicated the award to Sally Lawson, Capital Farm Credit’s late CFO, whom he described as a trusted supporter and champion of Farm Credit cooperatives, CFC and innovation.
“I love when I hear it from our customers and our employees that we have made their experience and their lives easier. That’s the biggest acknowledgement I could ever get, and that really motivates me to go extra mile,” he said.
Paulraj’s ORBIE Award marks a significant milestone in his 18-year career that began as an associate software developer and has grown into system-level leadership. As Capital Farm Credit’s youngest and first-ever IT executive, he continues to redefine how technology can serve agriculture – making credit more accessible, operations more efficient and innovation more inclusive.
