Capital Farm Credit Joins Coalition Advocating for Comprehensive Farm Bill

Author: Robyn Merrill

Capital Farm Credit recently joined the Farm Credit Council and a nationwide coalition of over 260 agricultural organizations urging Congress to develop and pass a comprehensive “Farm Bill 2.0” to support farmers, ranchers and rural communities nationwide.

The letter emphasizes the essential role of the farm bill in providing a safety net for farmers and ranchers, facilitating international trade, supporting rural development and promoting conservation efforts. It also highlights the bill’s significance in ensuring food security and addressing challenges such as climate change and economic volatility in the agricultural industry.

“The coalition’s advocacy for Farm Bill 2.0 reflects a unified effort to secure policies that will sustain and enhance the agricultural industry,” said Phil Peabody, Capital Farm Credit chief lending officer.  “By joining this coalition and signing this letter, Capital Farm Credit remains committed to supporting initiatives that benefit our members and the entire agricultural community.”

The letter thanks leaders in the House and Senate for standing by America’s farmers, ranchers and rural communities. It also points out that while recent legislation has been helpful, it’s no replacement for a full Farm Bill. There’s still more to do to advance the full suite of programs and policies that only a complete Farm Bill can deliver.
